Sunset Lake May Board Meeting minutes
May 1st, 2017. 7:45pm

The Rudolph and Alice Meiners Award was given out in the past to members or member families in Recognition Of Outstanding Service To The Community. Bob expressed his desire to reinstate this award and said he will report more on this in the next meeting.
Treasurer – Mona Ragazzo
Mona reported that everything is in order with the accounts and the bookkeeper.
She has filed the annual permit for swimming to the health department. The current permit expires May 31st.
Mona put forth a proposal for membership dues increase. With maintenance going up for tree removal from beaver damage, hydro-raking, etc. it makes sense to increase the dues. Mona also said we should find out what other lakes and swim clubs charge for dues. Bart to find out how much Lake Packanack charges for dues and Mona to do some research on what the swim clubs charge. Cynthia said she’ll help too.
Correspondent Secretary – Lisa
Lisa reported, in absence of a dedicated person for social, she‘s doing flyers for social events. Mona pointed out some addresses were wrong and mail was being returned.
Website and facebook is updated with the social calendar, newsletter is updated and forms for private party are updated.
Social calendar –
Campout Sep 9th and Omelette Sundays next morning. Movie nights starts this Friday, May 5th at 8pm. Purchased enough popcorn for the whole season. Lisa is doing concession stand for movie nights.
Lisa handed out new parking lot gate keys (about 100)
4th July – Lisa presented the new July 4th pricing to the board. Check-in at the 4th of July is a challenge, so Lisa proposed to pack all the wristbands in an envelope for all prepaid tickets. She also suggested we do not sell raffle tickets at the check-in counter.
Mike M to work on the alcohol permit and the insurance waiver for 4th of July.
Fire dancers show for the 4th July – Mona to look into it.
Newsletter – The next newsletter will be published early June.

Cynthia – Members
New member – Received a new membership application from Lindsey & Scott Kohlhepp. The board made a motion and voted them in, subject to receiving the $1000 initiation fees and the annual membership dues.
New member drive will be held on the Memorial Day and burgers will be provided.
Membership lapsed – Someone had their membership lapse and wanted to know how they can join again. The board said if the membership has lapsed for more than a year they will need to pay the initiation fee again. If it’s less than a they can pay last year’s dues and this years dues to join again.
Cynthia asked if we give out boat tags? New members want to get a boat and are asking for tags.
Mike G – Grounds
Mike Gilmore was absent, but Mike M gave an update that all trees that were dead were cleared. Hydro-raking was completed. Cattails were dumped behind the ball field and mud and muck was scooped along the beach.
One issue – boat launch ramp has sunk in the gravel. Crushed stone / concrete needs to added to lock it in.
Spring cleanup is this weekend on May 6th.
Lifeguards – Maggie Potter
Maggie asked the board to approve a $200 ADP fee for direct deposit setup. Lifeguards will sign-in and clock hours using the ADP app.
Need a new first aid kit and a chalkboard for news bulletin to display daily temperature, water test results, etc.
Road closure permit came in.
7 lifeguards are on staff, need 3 more.
Maggie asked the board if the pay was capped at $10.50 / hour
Chris Lelli
Water is turned on. Encountered a bunch of problems with plumbing. Meeting plumber on Wednesday to address immediate issues.
Bart
Bart reported that the lake has an overpopulation of largemouth Bass.
Mike M proposed to remove the catch and release policy for a limited time to control the Bass population. Mike M made a motion to suspend catch and release for largemouth Bass from June 15th till Dec 31st. The motion was voted by the board all in favor.
Website – Bart said he can work on a new website for the lake with a new email address for every board position.

- Logo wear – Lisa reported she’s going with https://embroidme.com/ for prototypes of the new logo wear.
