Sunset Lake February 2018 Board Meeting Minutes
February 5, 2018. 7:35pm
Present: Mike McLaughlin, Maggie Potter, Harshal Limaye, Mike Gilmore, Lisa Kutchaver, Mona Ragazzo, Helder Cristavao, Rob Bolte
Absent: Cynthia Freund, Donna M
Motions: January meeting minutes were reviewed. A motion was passed to approve the minutes and post them on email, website and Facebook.
President: Mike M.
Beaver update: Beavers are not caught and there could be as many as 4 couples. Regular traps are not working, so snares were put up as bait. The beaver man had a little trouble with ice.
Ideas were discussed for volunteer tasks list and process for tracking the same. The task list can be made in Google docs and Google forms can be used for signups.
Vice President: Mike G
South shore dock: Removal of dock on South Shore is planned for end of March. Rob and Helder surveyed the dock and have a plan for fixing it. Estimated costs: $250
Spring cleanup – April 28th and May 19th (second cleanup)
Mike G reported Garden State Landscaping is raising costs this year.
Need permission from members to spray the front portion of their lawns with geese deterrents.
Gray spray is planned for early March and again in April.
Hydro raking will start in March –
Lifeguards: Maggie Potter
Maggie reported she has begun the Lifeguards recruiting drive for this year’s swim season.
Corresponding Secretary: Lisa
Lisa reported the newsletter went out to the membership. The board applauded Lisa for a job well done on the newsletter. Lisa asked Mona to inform her when members add and drop so she can update the mailing list.
Grounds: Helder
Need to look at the electric circuits for panel work. Benches on the lake need to be power washed, repaired and painted. Need rakes for raking the sand. The sand on the beach needs to be pushed from back to the front towards the water and we may need new sand for the playground.
Treasurer: Mona R.
Mona reported she has finished the books from last year and everything is with the accountant for taxes. Hoping to have taxes wrapped up and filed by mid Feb. Property taxes were paid.
$5000 initiation fees deposited in the restoration fund and the checking account is left with roughly about $2000.
Budget: Mona presented a draft budget based on last year’s numbers and discussed it with the board members for review and feedback.
Clubhouse: Rob
Rob said water in the clubhouse is still shut closed and will be turned on when weather permits.
Changed smoke detector batteries in the clubhouse, and need key codes for the women’s bathroom to change the batteries there.
New business
Lisa – Only 1 adult party is budgeted. She said there should be two.
Private party coordinator – Magdalena Chinea will continue to volunteer as a private party coordinator again this year.
Sunshine – Erin Bolte – Card for Patti Hills.
Boys Scout – The board voted to donate $65 to the boys scout like every year.
Maggie – Asked if we can do advertising in newsletter? The board agreed and decided to find out the ongoing rates and come up with pricing.
Helder – Yoga, can they still do this? Kat will lead this. The board agreed.
