Sunset Lake April 2018 Board Meeting Minutes
April 9, 2018. 7:40pm
Present: Mike McLaughlin, Harshal Limaye, Mike Gilmore, Lisa Kutchaver, Mona Ragazzo, Cynthia Freund, Donna M, Helder Cristavao
Absent: Maggie Potter, Rob Bolte
Motions: March meeting minutes were reviewed. A motion was passed to approve the minutes and post them on email, website and Facebook.
President: Mike M.
Mike will be sending out the volunteer hours task list.
Mike is taking help from Eileen, who is a lawyer, to draft a memo with advantages of forming a foundation under 501-3C.
Mike brought attention to the “Planned Development Act” and said the lake may be required to fall into this and it may benefit us. More details to follow.
Defibrillator – Contacted Atlantic for a grant to buy the equipment. Cynthia said she needs a letter on our letterhead to send to Watchung Hills. They will let us use their facility to run a fundraiser. Mike M will draft a letter for Cynthia.
Glenwood Terrace – Mike M exchanged some information with their President and he’s now waiting to hear back.
Wildlife: Geese population has declined. Beaver still a problem.
Cinco De Mayo: Erin Bolte said $700 was not enough for the party. Proposed to do potluck and BYOB. Mike discussed with board and will ask Erin to move forward with the plan.
Harshal:
Ahaan Limaye has started building the new website. Harshal will put him in touch with Jim Doggett so they can coordinate.
Donna – Water Quality
Donna was able to establish contact with Cindy Welsh as well as Jordan Klein at Garden State Labs.
Water testing will begin mid-May (May 10th) and then repeat every 2 weeks until Labor Day.
Cindy: Membership
Cindy discussed some ideas with the board such as “seller concession” as a financing options which allows the buyer to roll in the membership initiation fees into the mortgage.
Real estate column – Cynthia said she will write a column for our newsletter with real estate updates in the neighborhood.
Vice President: Mike G
Fairway Green Geese control. Mike G gave them a list of people who have given permission to spray on their lawn.
Aquatic Tech – Quoted $5900 to monitor the lake every 2 weeks.
Lifeguards: Maggie Potter
Absent.

Newsletter – Lisa is working on the newsletter and she reminded everyone to send her blurbs. “Social Happenings” will be a new section added to the newsletter to include new members, deaths, births, announcements and a special section for John Fedors.
Party planner: No private party conflicts.
Facebook group was updated and members list was cleaned up.
No Social chair so 4th of July Picnic is at risk.
Grounds: Helder
Branch and brush cleanup from storms and beavers. Rob will try to get his company’s wood chipper and dump truck. Cynthia suggested we could pull them up by then curb have the town pick it up.
Umbrella box and toy box – Helder said he can build them using cedar wood.
Put the lights back on the tree at clubhouse.
Surveillance cameras – Ryans have volunteered to install, Helder will help.
Treasurer: Mona R.
New regulations – Licence renewal for swim permit.
Mona said two members has reached out to her asking about redeeming their certificates and she will be responding to them with a letter explaining the rules for redemption.
Sent the insurance check in.
Taxes are due May 15th (not April 15).
Clubhouse: Rob
Rob was absent.
New business
Mike M – Costco has $140 Adirondack Chairs. Motion was passed to buy 2 chairs.
Motion was passed to use the barricades to close the road in the front of the clubhouse when and as needed.
