Sunset Lake August Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order on August 10th, 2020 at 7:30PM.

President – Mike M
HAB
Aquatic Technology – will come and test the water for HAB when we call them. Township / DEP said we are on warning.
Sunset Lake Sign
Mike M is in process of completing the township claim. John gave insurance information. Town asked us to send more liability insurance. They are ready to move ahead with our claim. Sent the town quote for the sign and the original quote from Sign-o-rama.
Julie asked about the Sunset Lake Year Established discrepancy between the website and the sign. Mike elaborated that the incorporation was in 1932 but the lake club has been in place since 20s.
Maggie was asking about putting together the pieces of the broken sign. Mike suggested using liquid nails.
Capital Improvements
– $15K in budget for capital improvement.
– Chris: We could use it for hydro raking.
– Mike M: Last year budgeted $10K base and we put in an additional day for $2K more. $15K will give us a week and half.
– Sean: We do have a bunch of trees that need to be taken down. Giant one on S. Shore. Mike said Aulisio has a chipper so we are going to do some work this weekend. Asked Helder to walk around and get an estimate from the tree service.
– Maggie: Get a survey of the entire property. Find where our property line is. We need to post our property lines for liability reasons.
– Corner of the playground. Pour some more sand and do storm water drainage.
– Maintain the lake valve.
– Chris: how effective is hydro-raking? Mike M – we had them focus on the east end. We couldn’t take a kayak past Meiners. The results have lasted for 3-4 years.
– Sean: Bottom of the dam has metal exposed. We need to cover it with cement or something.
– Maggie playground sand is very dusty people are complaining. Mike said we have put certified playground sand.
Eagle Scout
Larry contacted Mike for projects.
Environmental survey of the lake to protect the water with ideas such as Rainwater management.

Issues with 2018-2019 tax. Filed extension on taxes so we have until Oct 15th.

Make sure if we have updates on emails. Handful of families not paid in full,
Emails are only going out to the main list – i.e. ppl who have paid.
Do we have any updates on outstanding dues?
Julie – Shorr never saw the invoice so she will take care of it.
Chris – Wendy said she was going to send the rest of the payment.
Clean up of member email list and member FB list.
Sean suggested if we keep a Google doc for Prospective members list
Maggie asked ppl who are blocked from FB, is Regina removing them from the email list?

– No LG in the past week as the lake was closed.
Water Quality – Donna
Water is clean.
Clubhouse – Sean
Wind broke 4 metal pieces and tore the canopy top on the left canopy. Mike removed the right hand side canopy before it was destroyed.
Sean replaced the broken metal poles, flipped over the canopy to the right side up and removed the lighting and broken tarp. Looking for volunteers to install replacement canopy and to reinstall lights.
Gutter needs repair on the clubhouse. Suggest hiring a company to replace all gutters since they are not in great shape. Lake flooded well past the lifeguard stand.
Canopy was destroyed. Fixed the pipes. Tarp was trashed. Looking for volunteers to replace canopy. Replaced all gutters. Lake flooded well past LG stand. Overflow pipes were full but not at capacity. Mike removed a couple of branches that were clogging the overflow pipes and they were draining.
Plumbing projects at the clubhouse. 2 bags of charcoal. Good on paper towels, soap.
Chris – Garbage disposal is on, but Chris is not getting a bill.
Invoices for gate computer. Still haven’t managed to upload everyones cards. It’s taking a long time.
Social – Julie
Movie nights are well attended.
Yoga – 11 ppl past Sunday. Reduced the price since this instructor does not charge if we get rained out.
Campout set on Sep 11-12th.
New business
Chris – Sean can we do anything in the clubhouse with the capital improvement money? Sean wants more cameras – Mike asked him to send a ballpark estimate.
More lighting in the back.
John – $120K in the restoration fund. Why don’t we use that for hydro-raking.

– Spoke to fire dept. He was going to do a practice drill today.
– Sunshine – guidelines for Sunshine on how much gets spent on what.
– Picket / wood fence noticed water was raging crossing the street and going straight into the lake. Sand is eroded.

– Additional fencing needed?

– Lifting the 4 person guest limit. Mike M said no cuz Governor has made it more strict.
